MINNEAPOLIS, January 30, 2009 – Capella University (www.capella.edu)), an accredited* online university that has built its reputation by providing quality graduate education for adults, announced that it has added a Global Operations and Supply Chain Management specialization to its online MBA program.

“Research shows that effective supply chain management has become a competitive differentiator among companies,” said Barbara Butts Williams, PhD, interim dean of Capella’s School of Business and Technology. “Rapid globalization of the supply chain has created an even more urgent need for these in-demand skills. We developed this specialization because there are very few MBAs with a combined focus on operations and supply chain management, especially from a global perspective.”

Faculty for the new specialization includes George Kalidonis, PhD, and Albert Salinas, MBA, who led the development of the curriculum. Kalidonis, who holds a PhD in economic policy, has previously served as director of an MBA program and held an endowed chair in Entrepreneurial Studies. He currently operates a consulting practice in supply chain management and is a frequent speaker on best practices in the field. Salinas earned his MBA in Operations Management and Finance from the Harvard Business School. He now operates his own import-export business after spending more than 25 years working overseas in a variety of senior management positions.

Like all of Capella’s MBA specializations, curriculum for the Global Operations and Supply Chain Management specialization also includes a strong business core that covers traditional MBA courses such as marketing, operations, strategy, and finance. Capella’s MBA program also features the Professional Effectiveness CoachingSM process, which provides students the opportunity to work with a professional coach. The coaches work with the students to facilitate their ability to apply what they are learning to their current jobs and position themselves for career advancement.
